What Next? Newcastle & Gateshead

About the Chapter
What Next? Newcastle Gateshead held their first meeting on 3 September 2015. Our meetings are attended by  independent artists, representatives from cultural organisations of all sizes, funded through a range of sources and working across the cultural sector, both arts and heritage. The meetings also attract producers, funders, people who had been working in the sector in Newcastle Gateshead (and the region) for 30+ years and some who were new graduates.

Meetings are a good way to keep the sector up to speed on national, Northern and regional policy, spending and political issues which affect the sector and wider issues affecting independent artists in Newcastle and Gateshead.  Meeting regularly, however, is a huge commitment for everyone and eventually we agreed that What Next ? NG could be more effective as an information and consultation network and a powerful voice when called on to respond to consultation or pending issues for the sector.

Our WHAT NEXT? Newcastle Gateshead facebook page has more than 570 members and we try as far as possible to use local networks to promote any opportunities for people to be involved in What Next?  Newcastle Gateshead and to receive any reports or responses we may produce. We welcome all comers with an interest in the future of culture here in the North East.
